’10’, The Jam Factory, England, 2017
The 10 canvas hangings employed a process of construction which was formulated for creating beyond preconceptions. A wide range of objects utilised as templates towards the making of the initial drawing, gave allowance for the element of chance. In turn, a challenge arises , in order to complete a rhythmic balance within each rectangle. It is this need to find a solution, that stretches the power to invent alternative methods.
Once hung, a group of dancers were invited to respond to the abstract imagery and the spatial aspects the canvases produced. They too, moved in an intuitive manner, allowing their impulses to dictate their bodies motion. Similarly, voice and instrument was used according to this abstract approach.
