Works that are created by combining with those of others.
On occasions, someone’s work catches the eye and prompts a response to utilise a quality of detail, form and/or texture towards my own ends. Generally, the impulse is to enhance the abstract elements that are inherent in most art pieces. In this way, the spectators’ gaze is diverted away from identifying the representational towards the structural elements that balance the composition. When objects are added, they are selected according to their visual weight or form and are therefore utilised in much the same way as collage or paint may be. In some instances, the works of others create a context or ‘framing’ device.
