Book C

Time Takes a Cigarette

Works that are completed over time.

The works contained in this group are examples of those that are completed over time.
In many instances a piece may lie dormant for many years until it is revisited.
It is almost as if a conclusion cannot be reached until it is possible to resume with ‘fresh’ eyes.
If there is an element of a painting which appears to be worth keeping, then it can serve as an inspiring base at a later date.
By that stage, there is also greater freedom from any fear of loosing an aspect to which there is some attachment.
Therefore, the possibility to build through a true response to that which is already there, is reconfirmed.
